The Use of the Cellulose Triacetate to Determine the Dose Distribution of an Electron Beam

The paper presented the experimental results regarding the use of the cellulose triacetate (CTA) to determine the homogeneity degree of the irradiation field obtained in accelerated electron beam by scattering through aluminum foils and to evaluate absorbed dose into the material depth. The results indicated a reduced irradiation surface for thin scattering foil (0.1 mm). Both using thicker scattering foils and enlarging the distance between the irradiation plan and accelerator exit window can increase the irradiation surface. The absorption curve shape showed the electron path as well as the maximum dose at approximately a third depth of the electron path in the studied materials (polyvinyl chloride and Teflon).
